New Schools for New Orleans Founder Fellowship

More that any other city in the nation, New Orleans has the unprecedented opportunity to transform our schools and to provide all of our children with an excellent education. Once ranked among the worst school districts in the United States, New Orleans public schools are changing. The lynchpin of this transformation is the rigorous and selective creation of charter schools - schools run by independent school leaders, driven by student achievement, and monitored by strict accountability measures.

To realize this transformation, the New Schools for New Orleans School Founder Fellowship supports and funds our nation’s most talented educational entrepreneurs in launching new open-enrollment charter schools in New Orleans. The Founder Fellowship is an extremely selective program that provides exemplary educators with 13 months of funding, leadership training, and school development support- including site visits to our nation’s highest performing charter schools. Past founders have included Teacher For America and New Leaders for New Schools alumni, as well as teachers and administrators from high-performing charter schools.
